Viittomakieliset Suomessa on johdatus suomalaiseen viittomakieleen ja sen käyttäjien elämään, kirjoittajina maamme parhaita asiantuntijoita. Kirja esittelee kieli- ja kulttuurivähemmistön, ei vammaisryhmää. Kuurojen lasten kuuleville vanhemmille kirja avaa näkymiä maailmaan, johon he yhdessä lapsensa kanssa matkaavat. Soveltuu oppikirjaksi mm. viittomakielentulkkien koulutukseen, yliopistojen kielitieteen opintoihin, sosiaali- ja terveysalan oppilaitoksiin sekä kaikille suomalaista viittomakieltä opiskeleville. Kielistä ja kulttuureista kiinnostuneelle lukijalle kirja esittelee usein unohdetun kieli- ja kulttuurivähemmistön. Ja tietysti kirja on tarkoitettu myös kaikille viittomakielisille, sekä kuuroille että kuuleville, jotka haluavat tietää enemmän omasta kielestään ja yhteisöstään. Kirjan aiheita ovat: - millainen kieli suomalainen viittomakieli on - suomalaisen viittomakielen ja kuurojenyhteisön historiaa - miten lapsi omaksuu viittomakielen - elämää viittomakielisenä - kielentutkimuksen tuomaa tietoa viittomakielistä. |
